Brightpoint Health joins Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) as of December 13, 2018

Brightpoint Health will join Hudson River Health Care on December 13, 2018, bringing more access to patients across the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island, with no disruption to care.

This merger will benefit patients by combining the strengths of the two organizations, and allow the organizations to build a stronger future together.


Will this partnership impact my health care? Will I have to see a different provider, or go somewhere else for care?

Your care will not be interrupted. The Brightpoint providers you see now will continue to provide the care you currently receive, and the clinics will be open during the same hours. You will be asked to re-register, so our records can be updated. This may cause a little inconvenience, and we thank you in advance for your patience as you re-register for services.

This partnership will result in more services available to you, and more specialists who can assist you.

Will I have to change my health insurance? Will I have to pay more for my care?

We work with multiple insurance providers to meet your health care needs in a cost-effective and convenient way. If your insurance is impacted, we will work with you closely to find a solution that meets your needs.

We do not anticipate that you will need to pay more for your care. A commitment to high quality affordable care is our top priority. As in the past, you may be eligible for a sliding fee to assure that your payment is affordable.

If I’m a Brightpoint patient, can I go to a Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) health center? If I’m an HRHCare patient, can I go to a Brightpoint Health center?

Yes. As of December 13, Brightpoint Health will join Hudson River Health Care.

Why is this partnership happening? What makes Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) and Brightpoint Health a good combination?

The partnership is happening because the combined strengths of our two organizations will provide you with more services in more locations.

We share a central purpose: to provide high-quality health care and wellness services to all who need them.

  • Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) was founded in 1975 by four African American mothers who courageously spearheaded the effort to address the lack of accessible and affordable health care services in Peekskill, NY. With a small federal grant, the Peekskill Area Ambulatory Health Center officially opened its doors in July of 1975.
  • Brightpoint Health began in 1990 as a facility and treatment program focusing on people living with AIDS, primarily low-income people of color, who were also struggling with substance abuse. Brightpoint Health opened a 66-bed licensed residential health care facility in the Bronx for patients in need of a structured recovery program, the first of its kind in the city.

Hudson River Health Care and Brightpoint Health embrace a caring, patient-centered, family-oriented approach to health care, and a fierce belief in health care as a universal human right.
